TALLAHASSEE — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 1365, legislation which will criminalize homelessness in the state of Florida.
In response, DeSantis Watch Communications Director Anders Croy released the following statement:
“Under Ron DeSantis, property insurance rates in Florida have more than doubled, our state is home to five of the top ten most overpriced housing markets in the country, and wages are below the national weekly average in sixty-six out of sixty-seven counties.
“Instead of pushing for policies that would lower costs, increase wages, and create an affordable future for all working families and seniors, the Governor is doing the bidding of his corporate donors who are price gouging Floridians out of their homes by passing the buck for his own failed leadership onto those who are struggling to pay the bills during the DeSantis affordability crisis.
“Every Floridian deserves the freedom to be healthy, prosperous, and safe, but Ron DeSantis would rather ban homelessness to cover up for his lack of solutions to the real issues facing his constituents that he refused to address as he focused on abandoning the state he was elected to serve during his disastrous bid for the presidency.”
