TALLAHASSEE — Tonight, Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention.
In response, DeSantis Watch Communications Director Anders Croy released the following statement:
“Almost one year after Ron DeSantis took the stage in Milwaukee to lay out his extreme, anti-freedom agenda if he were to be elected president, he returned tonight to double-down on the overheated and dangerous rhetoric which was roundly rejected by the American people during his failed campaign.
“At a time when Americans are looking to their leaders for a vision that unites our country in the face of deep division, Ron DeSantis chose to be a voice of the darkest, angriest, and most conspiratorial elements who are seeking to exploit our differences for political gain.
“The Governor’s ‘Florida Blueprint,’ which informs many of the proposals in Project 2025, was always aimed at widening the fault lines of our society by creating an environment of fear among those viewed as ideological opponents.
“Tonight’s speech by Ron DeSantis highlighted what it looks like when an elected leader abandons the goal of public service for all of his constituents in service of advancing their own personal ambitions, the consequences for those who disagree with him be damned.”
