TALLAHASSEE — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis held a taxpayer-funded press conference in Coral Gables that was coordinated with the campaign opposing Amendment 4 in Florida. This continues a pattern of the state government abusing taxpayer dollars in order to try to silence the truth about the state’s extreme abortion ban.
In response, DeSantis Watch Communications Director Anders Croy released the following statement:“Today, Governor Ron DeSantis continued his weaponization of state government against his own constituents by coordinating a taxpayer-funded press conference with the political campaign opposing Amendment 4 in his quest to silence the voices of doctors and patients suffering under Florida’s extreme abortion ban.
“Time and time again, Governor Ron DeSantis has abused taxpayer dollars in order to carry out his extreme agenda attacking the freedoms of his constituents, including when it comes to abortion care, while those patients seeking care, and the doctors trying to provide it, have come under attack from the same state government tasked with protecting their ability to be healthy, prosperous, and safe.
“What this misuse of taxpayer dollars makes clear is that the state government in Florida believes it is entitled to interfere in the private medical decisions of patients and doctors and shows once again why voters will be voting Yes on 4 to end this extreme abortion ban once and for all.”
