TALLAHASSEE – This week, Governor Ron DeSantis has done numerous interviews with right-wing media outlets, launched a me-first whining tour across Florida complaining that other Republicans are being mean to him, and threatened to use the millions of dollars in donations from the ultra-wealthy and corporate elite donors who fund his political ambitions to primary unfriendly Republican legislators.
Today, he remembered that he’s still the Governor of Florida and is statutorily required to release budget recommendations at least thirty days ahead of the state’s regular legislative session in March.
In response, DeSantis Watch Communications Director Anders Croy released the following statement:
“Today, Governor Ron DeSantis took a break from his latest round of political food fights to remember he has a job to do, but the budget recommendations he outlined will do nothing to lower costs, raise wages, or build a brighter future for the hardworking Floridians and retirees who are suffering under his ineffective leadership.
“While he has collected his six-figure taxpayer-funder salary throughout his time in office, the Governor has always remained more focused on his own personal political ambitions and petty grievances than offering real solutions to the affordability crisis working families and seniors have experienced in Florida while his ultra-wealthy and corporate elite donors have seen their profits skyrocket.
“With each passing day, Lame Duck Ron makes it crystal clear that Floridians are just an afterthought as he is solely interested in auditioning for his next role as a right-wing media talking head or podcast host than doing the job Florida voters elected him to do.”
